  • Going to work on Jail Population Issue: A new state Supreme Court commission charged with reviewing the inmate population in state prisons and regional jails is expected to have its first meeting before the end of the month. State Supreme Court Administrator Steve Canterbury says the commission isn't charged with finding answers for all of the issues, but rather conducting a review of what has and hasn't worked and what may work in the future. "I don't think there will be any permanent solution if we don't pay very careful attention to what did not work in the past. If we don't pay very careful attention to what other states have done in terms of their sentencing,&qu ot; Canterbury said.
